HayAt Tahrir Al Sham and Syrian Arab Army engage in numerous assaults and counter-assaults for al Nayrab over several weeks.
al Nayrab was first captured from HayAt Tahrir Al Sham on 3 February 2020 during the campaign to capture the M5 Highway and their encirclement of Saraqib.
Multiple counter-attacks were made and eventually it was re-captured by HayAt Tahrir Al Sham and the National Front for Liberation with fire support and equipment supplied by Turkey on 25 February 2020.

10 February 2020: Fierce clashes reported between HayAt Tahrir Al Sham and the Syrian Arab Army
12 February 2020: HayAt Tahrir Al Sham and National Front for Liberation launch major counter attack with Turkish artillery and rocket support.
20 February 2020: HayAt Tahrir Al Sham and National Front for Liberation launch major counter attack with reports of Turkish battle tanks and commandos being used.
24 February 2020: HayAt Tahrir Al Sham re-capture al Nayrab.
